By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run, when their time on earth is over and done. For here, between this world and the next, is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land, they wait and they play, till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, their bodies have healed, with strength imbued. They romp through the grass, without even a care, until one day they start, and sniff at the air. All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back, then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack. For just at that instant, their eyes have met; together again, both person and pet. So they run to each other, these friends from long past, the time of their parting is over at last. The sadness they felt while they were apart, has turned into joy once more in each heart. They embrace with a love that will last forever, and then, side-by-side, they cross over… together. |

| Hazel In May of 2026 our sweet Hazel crossed the rainbow bridge. Hazel was an active team with Denise visiting the Southampton Library for several years. We send our condolences to Denise. They are never with us long enough. |
Honey 2026 Angel on a Leash Therapy Dog teams of Western Pennsylvania are sad to let everyone know about the passing of Honey. She was known as Sunny when she was rescued at 11 months by Kathy Laverty of Hermitage, PA. Everyone thought HONEY suited her much better because of her gorgeous coat colors. When Kathy saw the beautiful collie, it was love at first sight and they did everything together. KATHY’S HONEY BUNCHES OF LUV participated in many AKC events including Obedience, Rally, Trick Dog, Fit Dog, and Farm Dog, where she received several titles. However, she found her niche being a Therapy Dog. She enjoyed her job. She loved people and people loved her. Kathy and Honey supported our local community, whether it was walking in a parade, participating in a fund raiser for the local library, visiting nursing facilities, Slippery Rock University students. or taking part in Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine. Honey Had been a Therapy Dog since 2018, joining AOAL in 2024. She was always a big hit with the older and the younger people she visited. Her last visit was at the Shenango Valley Senior Center in Hermitage. Kathy worked for a doctor for over 30 years. At first Honey would visit on Wednesdays and weekends. If Honey wasn’t there, patients would ask where she was. She became part of the office staff. On one special occasion, while walking during their lunch break, Kathy and Honey met Patrice. They stopped to get and give some love. About a year later Patrice adopted a German Shepherd named Baby Girl. Because of their meeting Kathy and Honey, Patrice and Baby Girl trained and tested to become a member team with AOAL. Honey will certainly be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. |  |
| Bear It is with great sadness we share that our beloved Bear crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on August 7, 2026. Bear was 11 years old and we loved doing therapy work. He was a great companion to our daughter and a great therapy dog. He will be sorely missed. Donna G and Family |
Rusty 2014 - 2026 Our beloved Golden Retriever, Rusty, passed away at home on July 8, 2026. Rusty had hemangiosarcoma and was diagnosed on May 28, 2026. Rusty was a Therapy Dog for close to 9 years. He made his first visit on June 27, 2017 and his last visit on May 4, 2026. Rusty primarily went to Chandler Hall. He seemed to have a 6th sense with the hospice patients and always wanted to be close to them for petting. He was a wonderful fur baby and always a Good Boy. We will miss Rusty with all our hearts. | Falcor June 2017 - April 1 2024 Also know as Falcor the Fabulous in his canine circus days. He was a sweet gentle giant, a momma's boy. In the short time he was with us he visited a lot of places and made people feel comfortable petting a big dog. He loved riding in the car and hanging his head out of the window drawing attention. It was the best of times. Miss you like crazy big guy. |
Murry It is with great sadness that we share the heartbreak of one of our teams crossing the rainbow bridge. Furry Murry of Idlewood 09/25/009- 02/27/23 There are dogs and there are champions. Murry was a champion. Many of us have met Murray as he has been one of our testing dogs for Angel on a Leash. Always a gentleman, he excelled in agility, nose work and the mascot of Resusapet program but above all he was truly loved as a therapy dog. He always kept his eye on his handler as he worked the room and gently greeted everyone. He was one of those special souls that knew how to bring joy. We extend our condolences to Carole D. and her family. |  |
| Remmy We lost another champion yesterday. Jeannette said it was fast and sudden. We hope Remmy didn't suffer much. As are all of our champions Remmy was a special dog. |
Mel I'm sad to share that Mel has crossed the rainbow bridge. I remember Mel and her handler Fran, as they were in the same therapy prep class at Tail Waggers as Thor. Also Mel was one of the first dogs our president Jo tested. Fran and Mel were an active member of Alpha Bravo Canine bringing smiles and comfort to all the first responders she met. She will be sorely missed. |

| Becca On September 1, 2022, Marie Fritz lost her beloved Bouvier, Becca. Back in July 2021 when Becca lost a front toe to squamous cell cancer it was discovered that she also had splenic and liver cancer. Due to Becca's age, Marie decided not to subject Becca to anesthesia and surgery. Experiencing both good days and bad days, Becca survived for over a year. When Becca's appetite decreased she was found to be anemic. Becca passed on Sept. 1, 2022. Becca will be sorely missed. |

Killian We send our hearts out to Debbie and Tom C. Killian lost her courageous battle with diabetes on May 30. She was a champ through it all. Killian enjoyed her visits with the residents and staff at Attleboro nursing home, showing off her haircuts and holiday customs as well as marching in the parades and community events. What a journey we had. |

Scout 6/19/2010 - 7/17/2022 Shirley Miyahara has lost her beloved Scout this month. In addition to being an AOAL therapy dog, Scout's other accomplishments include - DBF Scout's Honor of High Pointe - RN AX AXJ OF SE CAA DCAT RATS CGC TKN - TACH Teacup Agility Champion We will surely miss this talented dog. |

| Spike 2022 We have lost another angel, Spike, fur baby of Annette and Jeff. Spike passed with dignity after his battle with cancer. Annette said he had a beautiful last day surrounded by friends. Annette said it best, "If we had a formal memorial , it would have been better attended than our own". Spike was accomplished in nose work, rally, and agility. Our hearts go out to you, they are never with us long enough. Cheers to Spike and his beautiful, well loved life. |

Jackson and Bob Wharton were an extraordinary team earning many awards, the highest one being the paw print he left on so many hearts. We all learned a lot from Jackson and Bob. | Lil' Abner August 15, 2010 - March 30, 2020 Lil' Abner was 9 1/2 year old Dogue de Bordeaux. When he was a puppy he was entered into dog shows, where he did very well. but that was not his true calling. He was meant to be a Therapy Dog. For 5 years he and his sister, Stella were the ambassadors for the National Dog Show.

Sadie
Sadie was Jennifer's best friend for 12 years and a therapy dog for 7. She primarily visited the Ronald McDonald House at Front and Erie as well as various senior centers.
Sadie delighted many with her gentle manner and enjoyed their cuddling. In one memorable visit she was the first dog a young boy had met after having been mauled by another dog. Jennifer would like to think that Sadie helped him to start regaining trust with dogs. She remember parents guiding their children’s hands in order to pet Sadie's soft fur and their smiles that followed.
In her spare time Sadie competed in amateur agility and reigned as queen over her good-natured Sheltie brother. Dogs never live with us here as long as we’d like but she will forever live in the hearts of all those to whom she brought comfort and companionship as only a Therapy dog can do.
 Roscoe Our beloved Therapy Dog, Roscoe, finally succumbed to a neural sheath tumor that left him with a severe hind end paralysis. Our hearts are broken; we will miss him terribly as will all of the good folks at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital where he was a regular visitor (even a virtual visitor in the last several months). |
